In A Split Second
© 2007 Jim Gach
The trees were ablaze reflecting the sun along the interstate
A crisp fall day as Jen drove along, life was great.
Singing along with the radio
Didn't see the deer on the side of the road.
'Till it was too late.
Chorus:
In a split second, her life rearranged, her dreams forever changed.
In a split second, her life rearranged, her dreams forever changed.
In a split second.
Tires cried out as they grasped at the road, too late, she'd lost control.
Flipped over twice, no way could she come out of this whole.
A good Samaritan stopped to help
The Bronco on its roof in the median strip
Was it too late?
Chorus
At the county hospital they weren't sure she'd ever walk again
To put her back together it would take All of the King's Men
Hours of surgery pins in her bones
For days the results unknown.
Was it too late?
Jen was tough, the doctors skilled, and the prayers they helped
They said she'd be dead if she hadn't been wearing her seat-belt.
Put her back together, not quite the same
Jen would always feel the pain
Before the rain.
Chorus
